The first batch of Vickers Mk.3 was acquired by Nigeria forty years ago. In total, the country’s armed forces have slightly more than 80 tanks. Now only a few dozen are in operation. The combat vehicles are armed with 105-mm cannons with an ammunition load of fifty rounds, as well as a coaxial 7.62-mm machine gun and a 12.7-mm anti-aircraft gun. The disadvantage of the Vickers Mk.3 is the weak armor protection, so the tanks are easy to hit.
The Chinese VT-4 has powerful multi-layer armor, as well as a modern fire control system with thermal imaging sights. The vehicles are armed with 125mm smoothbore cannons and two 7.62mm and 12.7mm machine guns.
How many cars Nigeria bought is unclear. But Chinese tanks are quite expensive, so it is unlikely that all Vickers Mk.3 will be replaced.
