In the last month i.e. June 2022, Maruti Suzuki Celerio has registered the highest year-on-year growth of any petrol car in the Indian market. The new Celerio had recorded sales of 8,683 units last month. However, in the same period last year, only 752 units of the Celerio were sold. As a result, it registered a year-on-year growth of 1,055 per cent, the highest for any car for June 2022.

With these figures, it is quite easy to say that the new generation Celerio has definitely helped in boosting the sales of the Celerio. The Celerio is indeed a capable and practical vehicle. The Celerio is based on the company’s Heartect platform, which also underpins models like Baleno, Ignis, Swift and others. The new Maruti Celerio has been made available at a starting price of Rs 5.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Celerio is powered by a 1.0-litre K10C dual jet engine. The company claims that the new Celerio is the most fuel efficient hatchback in the segment at 26 kmpl. The company has also made the new Celerio available with a factory fitted CNG variant which is capable of giving a mileage of 35 kms on 1 kg of CNG. The CNG model is offered with a manual gearbox only, while the petrol models are offered with a manual as well as an AMT gearbox.

The new Celerio has a completely new design and features an attractive grille, new alloy wheels and fog lights. The interiors get a new touchscreen infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel with call and music assist, single pod instrument cluster and circular digital screen. The design of its headlights has been updated.

New features of the hatchback include SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Apart from this, push start/stop button feature is available in this car along with idle start/stop function. Along with this, now the door request switch has also been given in the new Celerio. The boot space in the new Maruti Celerio has now been increased to 313 liters.

In terms of safety, it has been provided with safety features like seat belt reminder, ABS-EBD, engine immobilizer, child proof lock on the rear doors, speed alert system, hill hold assist, reverse parking sensor. Apart from this, features like dual airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors are provided as standard.

Maruti Celerio competes with cars like Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago and Tata Punch. The new Celerio is based on the same Heartect platform as the Swift and Baleno, thanks to which it is longer and wider than the older model. Its wheelbase is also longer than before, which gives more space inside the car than before.
