Engine power will increase
Some reports have claimed that the new Alto will be offered with a 1.0-litre K10C engine. This engine will replace the 0.8-litre F8D engine found in the current Alto. Some details of the power of the engine have also been revealed, according to which this engine will provide maximum power of 66 bhp and torque of 89 Newton meter. This engine develops 19 Bhp power and 20 Nm more torque than the 796cc engine of the current Alto.
The new models of Alto can also be offered with the option of a 5-speed manual gearbox as well as an ASG gearbox. Maruti Suzuki may also introduce a CNG-powered version of the new Alto at a later stage. The new Maruti Alto will be made available in the Indian market in a total of seven variants.
Since its launch in the year 2000, Alto has been one of Maruti’s most popular models and has sold over 41 lakh units. The current model of Maruti Alto has been on sale since 2012 and received a mid-life update in 2019. The new generation Alto will come with a completely new design. It can be expected to get some new features in it.
How will the design be?
Maruti has been testing the new generation Alto for over a year now and many spy pictures of its exterior design have also surfaced. According to the information, the new Alto will match the design of the new generation Celerio launched last year. However, the Alto will retain its distinct hatchback look. The new Alto K10C could be slightly more expensive than the S-Presso with the 1.0-litre engine.
As per the spy pictures, the new Alto will come with sharp styling. The new Alto will get sloping headlamps, stylish fog lamp enclosure and a mesh grille in the front bumper. The doors will be slightly bigger and the overall length of the car may see an increase. The wheel size is expected to remain the same for all the variants at 13-inches. The design of the tailgate will be a bit more straightforward and the tail-lamp shape will be similar to that seen on the Celerio.
Will get new interior
Though the interiors of the upcoming Alto are yet to be revealed, it is expected that it may get a new dashboard. As far as features are concerned, the Haier variant will come with a touchscreen, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, power windows and many more.
Most likely, Maruti will not offer rear wipers in the new models like the older models of Alto. Interestingly, the first generation Alto used to come with this feature in a higher variant. The new Alto will compete with the Renault Kwid and S Presso.
