Earlier the CB motorcycle range was being sold with only one disc brake, but now uses twin 296 mm disc brakes with Nissan calipers, which are radially mounted on the CB500R and CB500F.
They also get the Showa SFF-BP 41mm inverted fork, which is present on the CB650R. These new units should improve the ride, handling and braking of all the three motorcycles. New wheel setups have been given in Honda CBR500R and CB500F with Y-spoke aluminum design.
However, the Honda CB500X soft-roader still gets 19-inch wheels upfront. The company has also given new color options to these motorcycles. Whereas Grand Prix Red is available as a common color option for all three models.
At the same time, the CB500F has also been made available in Pearl Smoky Grey, Matte Axis Gray Metallic and Pearl Dusk Yellow. Apart from this, the CB500X and CB500R have also been made available in Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and CB500X Pearl Organic Green.
Talking about the engine found in the Honda CB500 range, the same 471cc parallel-twin engine has been used in it. This engine churns out a maximum power of 47 bhp at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 43.2 Nm.
This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. Of the three CB500 motorcycle ranges, only the CB500X is currently offered in India via the CKD route, which means it is currently priced at Rs 5.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).
It is expected that Honda will update the CB500X for our market as well. Coming to the Indian market, Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India recently announced that the H’ness CB350 and CB350RS bikes will now be made available at the Canteen Store Department (CSD).
Both the middle weight cruiser motorcycles of Honda BigWing are made available at 35 CSD depots in the country. Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director – Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has informed about this plan of the company.
He added that “Honda 2-Wheelers India shares a long-standing alliance with the Indian Defense Community. We offer our quality products and sales service to them along with providing them superior after sales service. Celebrating 75th Year of Independence We are delighted to introduce our new bigwing motorcycles- H’ness CB350 and CB350RS on CSD network across India.
