Nine notorious Naxalites carrying a reward of Rs 43 lakh surrendered on Saturday in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. All of them have been involved in many attacks on security forces. These Naxalites will be rehabilitated as per the government policy by giving them Rs 25,000 each. Last year, 792 Naxalites had surrendered in Bastar region. Seven districts including Sukma fall in this region.

Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said that nine Naxalites, including two women, surrendered before the police and senior officials of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). They are disappointed with the hollow, inhuman nature of the Maoist ideology and the ongoing internal strife within the organization. Along with this, the state government’s ‘Niyad Nellanar’ (Your Good Village) scheme is also affected.

The objective of this scheme is to facilitate development works in remote villages. Due to increasing pressure from security forces and establishment of police camps in the interior areas, senior Naxalites have retreated. Maoist platoon number 24 commander Ransai alias Oyam Buska (34) and PLGA battalion number 1 company wing member Pradeep alias Ravva Rakesh (20) were carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh each.

The SP said that there was a reward of Rs 5 lakh on four other Naxalites. There was a reward of three lakh rupees on a female Naxalite. There was a reward of Rs 2 lakh each on two others including a woman. Naxal commander Ransai has been involved in several major attacks, including an ambush in Jhara Valley in Narayanpur district in 2007. Seven policemen were killed in this. A large number were injured.

Along with this, Ranibodli (Bijapur district) attack in the year 2007, in which 55 security personnel were killed. In 2017, there was an ambush in Burkapal (Sukma), in which 25 CRPF soldiers were killed. In the year 2020, Minpa ambush (Sukma) attack, in which 17 security personnel were killed. Other Naxalites who surrendered were also involved in several attacks on security forces. Their surrender is a big success.
