Google has announced the rollout of a new feature in its proprietary Google Lens app. This innovation will allow users to search both text and image at the same time.
The function supplements the usual image search with accompanying text. For example, if the user is looking for clothes like the model in the picture, but in a different color, then in this case it is enough to upload a picture and write the desired color or other characteristic. You can also ask a question about an object that is in front of the camera.
The tool was announced last year and is now in open beta testing. To use the service, you need to open Google Lens, take a photo item or upload an image from the device’s memory, and then add a refinement. Multisearch is currently available for iOS and Android devices with the latest version of the Google Lens app in the US.
“At Google, we’re always coming up with new ways to help you discover the information you’re looking for – no matter how hard it is to express what you need,” the company’s blog says.
The company said it is exploring a way to improve the feature with its proprietary MUM artificial intelligence model, which simultaneously understands and processes information from text, image, and video.
