WhatsApp has banned 1,759,000 Indian accounts between November 1, 2021 and November 30, 2021. Now the question arises that why these accounts have been banned. So according to this report, WhatsApp has used the company’s abuse detection approach to ban these accounts. It also includes action taken for negative feedback given by users through ‘Report’ feature.

What is Abuse Detection Approach:
The abuse detection approach operates over three lifecycles of any account. First during registration, second while sending messages and third in response to negative feedback that the company receives in the form of user reports and blocks.

WhatsApp allows users to report accounts by:
WhatsApp allows users to report accounts that the user believes to be spam, abusive, etc. The company gets the last 5 sent messages which have been sent by any reported user or group to another user. They are not informed about this. WhatsApp also receives information about the reported group or user ID, when the message was sent and the type of message sent (image, video, text, etc.). The user can report any message by long-pressing any one message.

WhatsApp allows users to block accounts by:
If the user wants, he can block any account. For this, they have to go to the chat of the person they want to block and then tap on the three dots above in the right site. Then some options will open. Then tap on More. Then tap on Block from the options that will appear. You will then get a pop-up asking you for confirmation. In this you have to tap on Block again. From here you can also report the user.
