Microsoft eliminates two services in mobile Office

Microsoft has announced two services that will be removed from the Office mobile apps by the end of this year.

The first is Transfer Files. It allows you to transfer files between an Office application and a computer. The process involves opening a URL and scanning a QR code to pair the two devices and transfer content. Microsoft believes Transfer Files could easily replace OneDrive, which integrates seamlessly into Office.

Another feature that will be missing from the Office mobile app is Share Nearby. As the name suggests, the service allowed content to be shared between Android devices in close proximity. However, Microsoft believes that this feature does not meet all the current needs of its customers.

The Transfer Files and Share Nearby services will be discontinued on December 31, 2022. Microsoft emphasized that these steps are being taken to develop the Microsoft 365 mobile app.
