MG Motor’s Comet EV will have three variants, delivery will start from May 22

Launched last month, MG Motor’s Comet EV will be available in three variants, Pace, Play and Plush. Their prices are between Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 9.98 lakh. Bookings for the Comet EV will open from May 15 and deliveries will start from May 22. The company is also offering MG e-Shield with it. Under this, a warranty of three years or one lakh kilometers will be available.

MG Motor has also provided ‘Trace and Track’ facility for Comet EV customers in which customers will be able to track their vehicle from production to delivery. The company is also offering a buyback program wherein customers will be assured of 60 per cent of the cost of the vehicle after three years. Comet EV has a range of about 230 km. It has 12 inch steel wheels. Its battery is of 17.3 kWh. It is a two-door, four-seat subcompact hatchback. The Comet EV measures 2,974 mm in length, 1,505 mm in width and 1,631 mm in height. Its electric motor gives power of 41.42 bhp and torque of 110 Nm. The company has given a 3.3 kWh charger with it. It can fully charge the battery in seven hours.

It has two screens of 10.25 inches. One of these is for the instrument cluster and the other for infotainment. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available with this electric car. Its top variant gets features like ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, tire pressure monitoring system, front and rear 3 point seat belts and reverse parking camera. Trust drive has started. The test drive of this electric car launched this week can be taken from the company’s dealerships.

The Comet EV will compete with the Tata Motors Tiago EV and the Citroen E:C3. It has a smart key which is square shaped and has three buttons for lock, unlock and open the tailgate. However, there is no slot to keep it on a keychain. Apart from this, it will also have a digital key so that the owner of the vehicle will be able to share it with other people. EV sales in the country were around 50,000 units last year, which is expected to increase to 1.2 lakh units this year.
