MG Comet vs Maruti Suzuki Swift: MG Motors recently launched the cheapest EV in India at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 7.89 lakh, which is lower than the most affordable EV till now, the Tata Tiago EV. Today we are going to compare it with Maruti Suzuki Swift, the best-selling ICE model in this price range.

MG Comet EV vs Maruti Suzuki Swift: Powertrain

The 17.3kWh battery is mated to a single electric motor in the MG Comet. This motor generates 42bhp power and 110Nm torque. Its battery is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance. It is claimed to get an ARAI-certified range of 230km. It gets 3 drive modes and takes more than 7 hours to charge its battery.

Maruti Suzuki Swift gets an 1197cc petrol engine, which generates 87bhp power and 113Nm torque. It gets more power than MG Comet.

MG Comet EV vs Maruti Suzuki Swift: Features

The MG Comet EV gets a 10.25-inch dual screen, which houses an infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. It gets keyless entry with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front passenger seat one-touch tumble and fold, steering-mounted controls and over 55 connected features. Along with this, dual airbags, ABS, EBD, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a reverse camera are also available for safety.

 

Maruti Suzuki Swift features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual front airbags with cruise control, automatic climate control and remote keyless entry system, reverse parking sensors with ABS, EBD and ESP and a reverse parking Features like camera are available.

MG Comet EV vs Maruti Suzuki Swift: Price

Maruti Suzuki Swift’s ex-showroom price starts at Rs. 5.99 lakh, which goes up to Rs. 9.03 lakh ex-showroom for its top model. This car is capable of giving a mileage of around 22 kmpl in both petrol manual and automatic variants. Whereas, the price of MG Comet starts at Rs. 7.89 lakhs. The cost of running it per 1000 km is only Rs.519.
