Meta spends big money for CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s safety
According to a Bloomberg report, Meta spends a lot of money to keep Mark Zuckerberg and his assets safe. The company’s filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) show that Meta spent nearly $27 million on Zuckerberg’s security and private jets in 2021. Whereas in 2020, the total expenditure was $25 million in 2020 and $23 million in 2019.
This suggests that the amount spent on Mark Zuckerberg’s safety is much more than the amount spent on other high-profile executives of the company, including Sheryl Sandberg. The total amount spent on his security is around $9 million.
Meta spent about $1.6 million on Zuckerberg’s private jet in 2021. In 2020, the company spent $1.8 million and less than $2.9 million in 2019. While they are also given $10 million as pretax allowance for the safety of their family.
One of the main reasons Meta spends so much money on Zuckerberg’s security is because he’s directly associated with the brand.
Meta spends many times more than Google, Microsoft and Twitter
In fact, big tech companies including Google, Microsoft and Twitter don’t spend as much on their company’s CEO as Meta has been doing. A Bloomberg report states that Google spends around $4.3 million on Google’s Sundar Pichai, which is closest to Sandberg.
On the other hand, Snapchat spends $2.3 million on Evan Spiegel’s safety and $2.2 million on Oracle’s Larry Ellison. Thus, Meta spends many times more money on Mark Zuckerberg than these.
It is worth noting that Meta, which was earlier named Facebook Inc and it was changed to Meta Platforms last year. However, after the name change, the company was found to be lacking in daily users for the first time in the last months, there was also a huge decline in the shares.
