In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, the police have issued an order taking strict steps about Eid prayers on the streets. The police have banned offering Namaz on public places and roads. And warning of action against those who violate the order, they have said to cancel the passport. This order of Meerut Police has been criticized by Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary. Taking a dig at the Meerut police, he said that it is wrong for the police to say this.
He has compared this police order to the Orwellin 1984 policing. Along with this, he has also quoted the article of the RSS mouthpiece organizer.
Police should not say this: Jayant Chaudhary
Regarding his tweet on the Namazis on the action of Meerut police, Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary said, ‘I mean, the police should not say that we will take passports. The administration can talk about keeping the roads empty, but for this, the people of the community should be communicated with sensitivity.
Please tell that on Wednesday, Meerut police issued an order and said that this time the Namaz will not be allowed to offer Namaz on the road. If someone is found to offer prayers on the road, action will be taken against him and an FIR will be lodged. Also, it will be recommended to revoke passports and licenses.
SP City Ayush Vikram of Meerut said that Eid has been appealed to all religious leaders and Imams that people should offer prayers in mosques or Eidgahs. He said that if someone offers Namaz on the road, strict action will be taken against him. Last year too, some people offered prayers on the road, due to which a case was filed against 200 people and more than 80 people were identified. This time too, the police is monitoring such people.
Drone and CCTV cameras will be monitored
Police also informed that drones and CCTV cameras will be monitored in sensitive areas. The police will also keep an eye on social media and action will be taken against those who spread any kind of rumor. The police have warned that if a person violates the rules, his passport and driving license can also be canceled. NOC from the court will be required for new passports.
