This processor is one step below the 9000th model. And if the “older” version intends to compete with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, then the Dimensity 8000 will “take over” the previous Qualcomm flagship – the Snapdragon 888 chip, as well as the Snapdragon 870.
It is expected that the performance of the new product from MediaTek will be average between the two “outdated” chips from the competitor. But at the same time, Dimensity 8000 will be manufactured using a 5-nm process technology and have a two-cluster architecture.
The latter means that the chip will receive four high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of 2.75 GHz and four more energy-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 2.0 GHz. The video accelerator ARM Mali-G510 MC6 will be responsible for the graphics.
A distinctive feature of the platform should be support for Full HD + screens with a refresh rate of 168 Hz or a QHD + display with a frequency of 120 Hz.
