New Delhi, Ankit Dubey. Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) hosted the 3rd edition of the Safe Roads India Summit in Bengaluru. During this, the company introduced its futuristic product Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX, which is the world’s most range-giving electric car.
Safety is a core value for Mercedes-Benz, which is known worldwide for its advanced safety systems. In line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3.6 and SDG 11.2), Mercedes-Benz recently announced its Vision Zero 2050, which aims to reduce road accidents by 50% by 2030, as per 2020 numbers, and We are committed to achieve this and aim to set the flag for accident-free driving globally by 2050. This ambition is driven by the ‘Real Life Safety’ philosophy and driven by the Group’s own Accident Research Unit, which has a rich experience of analyzing real-world accidents for over 50 years.
In recent years, the research was expanded to include some locations in India with the aim of making accident free driving a reality in all markets. However, the effectiveness of security systems can be compromised if road users do not follow traffic rules or use security systems on their vehicles.

This research prototype is packed with developments and innovations that contribute to its outstanding class. It is capable of real-world electric driving of over 1,000 kilometers on a single charge and provides a clear indication of the path the company is taking to go fully electric by 2030. It is a part of a wider technology program to push the boundaries of technical feasibility and accelerate the transfer of innovations into series production. MBRDI engineers based in Bangalore and Pune have contributed significantly in building this prototype, which has been recognized as the new benchmark for EVs.”
The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX is a road legal research prototype that was built within 18 months. A 100 kWh battery has been given which offers a range of more than 1000 km. The company has used a lot of recycled materials in this vehicle. Apart from this, it uses ultra low resistance tyres, lightweight brake discs (aluminium), electric only chassis and lightweight F1 subframe. Apart from this, ultra thin solar powered roof panels have been installed on the roof of the vehicle, which collect energy to give a range of up to 25 kilometers. Despite being an electric vehicle, the weight of the vehicle is 1750 kg.
