Mazda has planned to update its crossover CX-8. The upgraded model debuted in the domestic Japanese market and is already available for order through local dealers. The start of sales is scheduled for the end of December.
The appearance of the Mazda CX-8 was refreshed by installing a new front bumper, updated headlights without chrome trim and a change in the grille. Also updated are Mazda’s Intelligent Drive Select system with three driving modes, new springs and dampers to reduce bumps and new seat cushions. There is also support for Apple CarPlay wireless connection.
On top of that, Mazda has released two new trim levels for the CX-8 – Grand Journey and Sports Appearance. The first features original 19-inch wheels, a dark gray grille, glossy black side mirrors, roof rails and an off-road driving mode. As for the second configuration, it has a radiator grille, lower part of the bumpers, door sills and side mirrors painted in shiny black, and 19-inch wheels in metallic black. Also, the “sporty” version is distinguished by an enlarged exhaust pipe and a maroon leather interior.
The range of engines in the updated Mazda CX-8 remains the same. These are either 2.5-liter gasoline engines – a 188-horsepower “aspirated” and a 227-horsepower turbocharged unit, or a 2.2-liter diesel engine with 190 hp. Regardless of the type of engine, the transmission in all cases is a 6-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission. The drive can be either front or full at the request of the buyer.
