According to RIA Novosti with reference to Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Kurganmashzavod has begun mass production of BMP-3 for the Russian army with anti-cumulative dynamic protection modules on the tower.
Reactive armor should increase the survivability of the BMP-3 on the battlefield, as it reduces the possibility of it being hit by anti-tank weapons.
AT roller shows the workshops of “Kurganmashzavod” with dozens of new infantry fighting vehicles, on the front and sides of the towers of which screens with mounts for dynamic protection modules are installed. In total – five mounts to the right and left of the 100-mm gun.
The first dynamic protection for the BMP-3, presented back in 2001, was called “Cactus”. A vehicle with such protection is capable of withstanding hits from cumulative grenades with armor penetration up to 550 millimeters.
