Mass Chevrolet models may remain on the Russian market even after the departure of General Motors

Vadim Artamonov, executive director of Keles Rus, said that Chevrolet mass models could remain on the Russian market after the General Motors representative office in our country was closed. Keles Rus is the official distributor of Chevrolet, representing the Spark, Nexia and Cobalt models on the Russian market.Vadim Artamonov clarified that the Russian office of General Motors has never taken part in the work of Keles Rus, so the future prospects for Chevrolet mass models do not depend on its closure.

We deliver cars to Russia from the production sites of UzAuto Motors in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, whose activities are determined by the head office of Chevrolet. As part of the sanctions regime in relation to Russia, back in early March, he decided to suspend the supply of mass-produced Chevrolet cars and spare parts to the Russian market until further notice. It is currently unknown when deliveries can resume, but this decision is definitely not connected with the closure of the General Motors representative office in Russia.

Sales of Chevrolet mass segment cars resumed in the Russian market in June last year after almost a five-year break – as part of a special agreement between General Motors and UzAuto Motors. The Chevrolet model range of the mass segment is represented in Russia by three models – the compact sedans Cobalt and Nexia, as well as the Spark subcompact hatchback.
