Maruti Suzuki will continue to offer small cars, has a strong hold in the hatchback segment

Hisashi Takeuchi, CEO, Maruti Suzuki India, said after the launch of the Alto K10 that there are many customers in India who prefer a small one over an SUV. So we will continue to offer smaller cars in the market. He said that the demand for SUVs is increasing in the market but the company believes that it is important to focus on all segments of the car. This is because most of Maruti’s customers are small car buyers.

Hisashi said that even small cars need to bring new technology and features to make them better for the customers as per the need of the hour. Sharing the data, Hisashi said, “In the last financial year, 11.5 lakh hatchback cars were sold in India, of which Maruti Suzuki accounted for more than 68 per cent. So keeping in mind the needs of the customers, we need to introduce new cars in the hatchback segment. should continue to be brought.”

He also revealed that Maruti Alto was the fourth best selling hatchback last year. Alto was launched in India in September 2000. He said that the Alto was the best-selling car in India for 16 consecutive years till 2020.

As of July 2022, Maruti Suzuki has sold 43.3 lakh units of Alto in India. This sales figure shows how strong is the hold of Maruti’s small cars in the country. Not only Alto, Maruti’s models like WagonR, Celerio, S-Presso and Baleno are also selling well.

Let us tell you, Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Alto K10 (Maruti Suzuki Alto K10) in India on 18 August. Equipped with the new K10 series petrol engine, the Alto K10 has been launched in the market at a starting price of Rs 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The price of the top variant of the new Alto goes up to Rs 5.83 lakh.

The new Maruti Alto K10 has been introduced in a completely new design. The design has been revamped and it now looks bigger and more stylish than the Alto 800. The design of the Alto K10 is inspired by the new Celerio, due to which some of its design elements are similar to the Celerio. The Alto K10 gets a bigger honeycomb grille than before. Apart from this, it has been given a newly designed oval headlight and tail light. The new Alto K10 comes with the same 13-inch steel wheels as before.

The new Alto K10 hatchback is offered with a 1.0-litre, K10C DualJet petrol engine that churns out 67 Bhp of power and 89 Nm of torque. The company has offered the Alto K10 in 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options.
