New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the largest car manufacturer in India, has sold the maximum number of cars in 2023. The company has sold 14,13,741 vehicles so far this year as compared to last year. Of these, 1,64,439 vehicles were sold in November. Which registered an increase of 3.4% from 1,59,044 units sold in November last year.
Maruti Suzuki’s total sales from April to November this year include domestic sales of 1,197,211 units, sales to other OEMs of 39,087 units and exports of 1,77,443 units. The company’s total domestic sales this year increased to 12,36,298 units from 11,39,072 units, while exports increased to 1,77,443 units from 1,72,818 units. The company reported total passenger vehicle (PV) sales of 11,75,312 units, a growth of 10.12% compared to 10,67,282 units last year.
Mini segment sales declined
Sales of mini segment cars including Alto and S-Presso have been less than last year. People seem to be taking some interest in mini segment vehicles. Maruti Suzuki sold 1,64,243 units of the mini segment last year. However, the company has been able to sell only 97,077 units so far this year. Also in the PV segment, total sales of compact cars like Baleno, Celerio, Dezire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR this year declined by 2.70% to 5,64,270 units in 2022 from 5,79,957 units.
Best selling utility vehicles
This year, utility vehicles were sold more than Maruti Suzuki’s mini segment cars. Sales of Brezza, Ertiga, Frontex, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, S-Cross and XL6 increased by 82.52% to 4,14,631 units from 2,27,164 units last year.
