Maruti Suzuki sales up 8.28%, 1.75 lakh cars sold in July 2022

Domestic passenger vehicle sales last month increased by 6.82 per cent to 1,42,850 units from 1,33,732 units in July 2021. The company said the lack of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of the vehicles. Mainly domestic vehicle models remained untouched by this problem.

Sales of Maruti’s mini cars, which include Alto and S-Presso, stood at 20,333 units as against 19,685 units in the same month a year ago. Similarly, sales of compact cars like Baleno, Celerio, DZire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR increased to 84,818 units in July 2022 from 70,268 units in the same period a year ago.

However, sales of utility vehicles (UVs) including Brezza, Ertiga S-Cross and XL6 declined to 23,272 units as against 32,272 units. Sales of the mid-sized sedan Ciaz also declined to 1,379 units last month, the company said. Which was 1,450 units in the same period a year ago.

Maruti Suzuki said it has sold 13,048 units of the Eeco van last month, up from 10,057 units sold in July 2021. In the light commercial vehicle segment, the company sold 2,816 units of the Super Carry model as compared to 2,768 units in July 2021.

Let us tell you that about 6.5 lakh cars are pending delivery in India, out of which 3.4 lakh cars are from Maruti Suzuki only. Maruti Suzuki being a big car manufacturer delivers the maximum number of cars every year, but this year Maruti is also facing difficulties.

Other big car makers like Hyundai, Tata Motors and Mahindra are also facing delivery uncertainty. Hyundai and Mahindra are second and third in the car backlog. Together, the two companies have to deliver 3 lakh cars. On the other hand, domestic automaker Tata Motors is delivering cars with a delay of one to three months after arranging the necessary equipment for its cars through alternate supply routes.

Semiconductor production was badly affected due to the Corona epidemic, due to which there was a huge shortage of chips for electronic components in the auto market.
