Maruti Suzuki may reduce production by 15% in March, chip shortage is the main reason

The company can produce 190,000 units per month if the production capacity is highest. The company is getting affected due to chip shortage and there was a huge reduction in production last year but now the situation is slowly getting better. Before the production cut, the company had asked its vendors to be ready to produce 492,000 units in the last quarter of this financial year.

This could result in a loss of Rs 1,000-1,500 crore to the company in the March quarter. In such a situation, the company has told its vendors that it is going to produce 93,000-94,000 units in Gurugram and Manesar plants and 45,000 units at Gujarat plants in the month of March. In such a situation, the company can produce 16.3 lakh units of vehicles by the end of this financial year, which is 13% more than last year.

It is reported that the company is currently pending 275,000 orders. Maruti Suzuki’s February 2022 sales information has come, the company has sold 164,056 units of vehicles. The company sold 1,64,469 units of vehicles in February 2021. The company has sold 1,40,035 units in the domestic market which is a growth of 8.46% as against 1,52,983 units. The biggest decline has been registered in the mini segment.

Alto and S-Presso are sold in the Mini segment and the company has sold 19,691 units in this, which is a decline of 17.81% as compared to 23,959 units in February 2021. While Swift, which sells Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and DZire in the compact segment, the company has sold 77,795 units in this, registering a decline of 3.38% as compared to 80,517 units in February 2021.

The company has sold 1,912 units in the mid-size sedan segment as against 1,510 units sold as of February 2021. While Vitara Brezza, S-Cross, Ertiga sells in UV segment, the company has sold 25,360 units in it, which is a decline in sales as compared to 26,884 units in February 2021. However, the company has exported 24,021 units which is almost double as against 11,486 units.

Maruti Suzuki’s Wagon R has been the first in sales, with 14,669 units sold in February which is 22% lower than last February’s 18,728 units, a decline of 28% as compared to 20,334 units in January . On the other hand, Swift has sold 19,202 units in the month of February, which is 5% less than 20,264 units in the previous February and it remained the same as compared to 19,108 units in January.

The DZire has sold 17,438 units in the month of February which is 47% higher as compared to 11,901 units in the previous February and it remained same as compared to 14,967 units in January. Alto has sold 11,551 units in the month of February which is 32% lower than 16,919 units last February and it is 6% lower as compared to 12,342 units in January.
