Maruti Suzuki has started production of the Jimny in India. The Jimny SUV has been long awaited and was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023. Now the company can launch this SUV in the market in June 2023.
The Jimny is an off-road SUV from Maruti Suzuki whose 5-door version will be brought to India. The Maruti Jimny will be offered in two trim levels – Zeta and Alpha, it will be made available in a choice of manual and automatic variants.
It has a 1.5-litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine. This engine provides 103 bhp power and 134.2 newton meter torque. This SUV has the option of 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
It has been given Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system, under which low range gearbox with 2WD-High, 4WD-High and 4WD-Low modes are available. This SUV is built on a ladder frame chassis. A total of 5 people can sit in it.
The SUV gets auto headlights, a large 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment unit, Arkamis audio system, Android Auto and Apple Car connectivity. Jimny will be given cruise control, climate control, keyless entry, alloy wheels, headlight washer.
For safety, the Jimny SUV has six airbags, hill hold control, hill descent control and brake limited slip differential. This SUV comes with 36 degree approach angle, 50 degree departure angle, 24 degree break-over angle.
It is reported that Maruti Suzuki has limited the production of the Jimny SUV to 7000 units per month. In such a situation, the way this off-road SUV has received bookings, it is estimated that the waiting period of this SUV can be from 3 to 6 months.
At the same time, it is believed that its price can start from Rs 10 lakh for the base variant. In such a situation, this aggressive pricing can attract off-road enthusiasts, but at the same time it can also attract the attention of compact SUV customers.
