Recently Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that it is going to launch a new 7 seater car. The upcoming car can be launched in the next two months. According to reports, Maruti Suzuki Chairman RC Bhargava said that Toyota will supply 9,000 to 10,000 units of the upcoming MPV car annually. The new car will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka. Let us see more details of Maruti’s new 7 seater MPV.
The name of Maruti Suzuki’s new car can be Engage. The auto company has also taken the trademark of this name. It is also possible that this name will be used for the 7 seater version of the Grand Vitara. This car can be introduced in 2025. On the other hand, talking about the engagement, it will be the first cross badge to be supplied by Toyota to Maruti.
Maruti Engage: Expected Specifications
Talking about the Maruti Engage, there could be a hybrid MPV. It can be sold from Nexa showrooms, which means its price is expected to be high. The power of 2.0L strong hybrid petrol engine can be given in Engage. With this engine, the car is likely to give a mileage of 21 kmpl. This will be the flagship model of the company and will be the first Maruti car to get ADAS technology.
Alliance of Maruti and Toyota
Toyota already supplies Maruti vehicles like Baleno, Ciaz. At the same time, Maruti also sells Baleno under the name of Toyota Glanza. Earlier Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was sold as Urban Cruiser. The Toyota Urban Cruiser also shares features and specifications with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
10,000 cars will come every year
Toyota will supply only 10,000 units of the Maruti Engage every year. Seeing this, it does not seem that the upcoming car will be based on the Innova Highcross. Interestingly, Toyota has closed the bookings for the top-spec Strong Hybrid variant of the Innova Hycross.
Due to the problem in supply, production is not being done. Apart from Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota’s Bidadi plant also produces Innova Hycross, Hyrider and Fortuner.
