If you are thinking of buying a small SUV or hatchback car, then wait a bit. Maruti Suzuki is going to bring a new option in the market. The company is about to bring a new vehicle based on its popular hatchback Baleno. The vehicle will be given a crossover and coupe styling design. This vehicle has been spotted several times during testing. It is believed that the company can present this car in January next year. Although it will be launched in February. Now the engine specifications of this vehicle have been revealed in the latest media reports.

According to the report of Autocar India, a 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine will be given in this car. Let us tell you that the company had launched this type of engine for the first time with the Baleno itself. However, it was discontinued due to BS6 rules. Now this engine is going to make a comeback with the new Baleno Cross. In its old avatar, this engine produced 102 Bhp and 150 Nm of torque. The engine was mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Similar power figures can also be found in the new engine. However, to increase the mileage, mild hybrid technology can also be added to it.

Apart from this, Maruti Suzuki can also offer a naturally aspirated petrol engine with it. It will either be a 1.2-litre DualJet engine from the Baleno, Swift and DZire or a larger 1.5-litre DualJet engine with mild-hybrid technology that is found on the Ertiga and XL6. However, Allgrip AWD technology will not be seen in it.

The Baleno Cross will be a premium compact SUV for Maruti Suzuki and will be sold along with the standard Baleno. The Baleno Cross will compete with high-riding hatchbacks as well as compact SUVs in the market, which includes the Honda WR-V, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Citroen C3 and Tata Punch.
