Global NCAP has recently tested two cars from Maruti Suzuki which are currently sold in the Indian market. Global NCAP has tested the Maruti Alto K10 and Maruti Wagon R and both have proved to be safety laggards.
Talk about Maruti Alto K10, it has got only 2-star in adult safety and only 21.67 points out of 34. At the same time, only 3.52 out of 49 marks have been received in child safety and only zero stars have been received. Its new model has been tested.
Maruti Alto K10 has been found to have a stable structure during the crash test, while it has got good protection from head to chest in frontal impact. On the other hand, the protection on the chest on the impact from the side has been very weak. In such a situation, this car is considered unsafe.
On the other hand, talking about Maruti Wagon R, it has got only 1-star in adult safety and only 19.69 points in 34. At the same time, only 3.40 out of 49 marks have been obtained in child safety and only zero stars have been obtained.

Global NCAP found that the driver’s chest protection in the Wagon R is weak. Maruti has not given child restraint system in these cars. The lack of three-point seatbelts in all seating positions also scores zero points for child protection on both models.
Secretary General, Global NCAP said that, despite six airbags being mandatory for new models sold in India, it is a matter of concern for Global NCAP that Maruti Suzuki has not made this mandatory even as an option to customers Is.
For front protection in Maruti Alto K10, front airbags, belt pretensioner, belt load limiter have been given, it does not have knee airbag. Along with this, no features have been given for side protection, apart from this, seat belt reminder has been given in it.
Whereas in Maruti Wagon R, front airbag, belt pretensioner, belt load limiter have been given for front protection, knee airbag has not been given in it. In this too, apart from seat belt reminder, no other safety features have been given.
Front and side impact and electronic stability protection and pedestrian protection are included under the updated crash test protocol of Global NCAP. Also includes side impact pole protection for higher rating.
