Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV did wonders, gave a range of 751 kilometers in minus degree cold

The base-spec variant of the XUV400 could be offered at around Rs 17 lakh or even less. The XUV400’s technical features are better than the Nexon EV in terms of its range, battery capacity and dimensions etc.

In such a situation, the company claims that Mahindra XUV400 Electric has created a new record. It is said to have become the first electric vehicle to cover a distance of 751 kilometers in sub-zero temperatures within 24 hours.

The company covered a distance of 751 kms in 24 hours via Keylong, Lahaul Spiti, Himachal Pradesh.

The XUV400 SUV can be seen tumbling down steep slopes effortlessly. The XUV400 can also be seen accelerating smoothly without any jitters and overtaking other cars. Which shows its power and performance.

The XUV400 is powered by a 39.4 kWh battery pack with a rating of 112 Ah. The battery pack has NMC (Nickel, Manganese and Cobalt) electro-chemical composition. The vehicle weighs 1,960 kg, with the battery pack weighing 309 kg.

Officially, the XUV400 can achieve 0-100 kmph in 8.3 seconds. This will make it the fastest passenger vehicle to be manufactured in India, except in the luxury segment. The top speed of the XUV400 is 150 kmph.

The XUV400 measures 4,200 mm in length, 1,821 mm in width, 1,634 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. Which is more than the XUV300, although both the SUVs are based on the same platform. Users can expect more spacious interiors for all the passengers. Also the boot space of 378 liters is quite good.

The certified range of the XUV400 as per standard AIS 040 (Rev. 1) is 456 km. In comparison, the Nexon EV Max has a certified range of 437 km (ARAI). There is not much difference between the two in terms of certified range, it is the real-world range that will determine whether the XUV400 can win over the Nexon EV.

Powering the Mahindra XUV400 is an AC – synchronous motor that produces 110 kW (147.5 hp) of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and 310 Nm of peak torque. In terms of 30 minutes of peak power, the XUV400 is rated at 60 kW (80 hp) at 4,000 rpm.

The XUV400 will use an in-house built battery to reduce its running cost. These will be manufactured by Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited in association with Mahindra. However, the battery controller and electric motor will be imported from China.

Some of its features include large touchscreen infotainment system, sunroof, dual zone climate control, 7-airbags and adjustable steering wheel. There will be drive modes of Fun, Fast and Fearless, which will use a unique combination of throttle, steering and regen. Another interesting feature is the ‘Lively’ mode, which has been specially designed to deal with heavy traffic.
