Mahindra Thar 5 door to get officially unveiled on 15th August 2024 Here are all the details

The launch date of Mahindra’s 5-door Thar has been revealed. After its debut in the Indian market, this SUV will compete with the Maruti Jimny. Let’s delve into its details.

Mahindra has been developing a 5-door variant of the Thar for over two years. It is expected that the brand will finally unveil this SUV on August 15. Notably, the 3-door variants of the Thar and XUV700 were also unveiled around Independence Day. Let’s explore its features.

For the 5-door variant, Mahindra has extended the wheelbase, allowing the company to incorporate a set of rear doors. This will enhance the SUV’s practicality by facilitating the entry and exit of rear passengers. Additionally, the door handles have been positioned on the C-pillars to maintain the SUV’s 3-door appearance.

Thar 5-door design

Previous spy shots have revealed updates to the design of the Thar 5-door. It will feature new circular LED headlights and updated daytime running lamps. Moreover, it will sport a new grille and a fresh set of LED tail lamps. There is speculation that Mahindra will offer the 5-door Thar with a fixed metal top, in addition to the convertible soft top and fixed hard top available for the 3-door Thar. New alloy wheels are also expected.

Some features of the Thar 5-door

Previous spy shots have unveiled some features of the upcoming Thar 5-door. The SUV will be equipped with a new touchscreen infotainment system, which debuted with the XUV400 Pro. It will include an automatic climate control system and an electric sunroof. The steering wheel will also be new and shared with the Scorpio-N.

Engine powertrain

Regarding powertrain options, the Thar 5-door will offer both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol version will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, while the diesel variant will feature a 2.2-liter unit. Both engines will be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It is anticipated that the company will introduce rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive powertrains as well.
