Mahindra recently launched its cheapest Mahindra Thar two-wheel drive (2WD). Which is priced lower than the four-wheel drive variant, which costs Rs 9.99 lakh.
Due to the low price, the waiting period of this SUV has increased considerably. The deliveries of this cheapest version of the new Mahindra Thar have started, but due to high demand, its waiting period has increased to more than 1 year. The introductory price of this Mahindra SUV will be for the booking of the initial 10,000 units.
According to the report, the waiting period of Mahindra Thar 2WD has reached around 18 months. However, it may differ from city to dealership. Apart from this, the waiting period is high due to high demand for the company’s models like Scorpio-N, XUV700.
It is being told in the reports that less people are selecting the petrol variant of Mahindra Thar 2WD, due to which its waiting period is reduced to 1 month, but more people are liking its diesel variant and due to which Thar Customers may have to wait for around 18 months for the delivery of the diesel variant of the two-wheel drive.

Let us tell you that in the cabin of the two-wheel drive variant, the company has removed the driving mode lever near the gear lever. This SUV has been introduced with both petrol and diesel engine options. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates 150 K power and 320 Nm torque. At the same time, the 1.5 liter turbo diesel engine generates power of 117 bhp and torque of 300 Nm.
The diesel engine only comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission while the petrol engine also gets the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission. Thar 2WD gets auto start/stop feature. It can be accessed from the control panel between the steering wheel and the driver’s door. It comes with traction control. Hill descent controls and door unlock/lock are located on the center console from the control panel.
