Mahindra Thar Engine Update: Indian automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra is soon going to give a new engine update to Thar, one of its most popular SUV cars. The company had launched the rear wheel drive variant of this car in January itself. The company is going to give a new engine in this off-roader according to the new Real Driving Emission Norms (RDE) or BS5 Phase-Two. The launch of this car can be done soon. Although its pictures have already been leaked on the internet.
How is the new engine?
The new engine found in Thar will be updated according to the new Real Driving Emission Norms (RDE) applicable across the country from 1 April. Accordingly, almost all the companies are updating the engines of their vehicles as per the new norms. Going by the leaked images on the internet, it is revealed that the Thar will soon get updated engines as per the new RDE norms. Also, these engines will be ready to run on E20 fuel.
Currently this engine is available
Currently, the 4X4 variant of the Thar is offered with a choice of 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines, mated to manual and automatic transmissions. While its real wheel drive variant gets a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which is capable of generating 117 bhp power and 300 Nm torque. Along with this SUV, the company will soon update its other cars as per the new RDE norms.
Cheap variant of Mahindra Thar
Rear wheel drive variant of Mahindra Thar gets hill descent control with auto start/stop feature, control panel between steering wheel and driver door, traction control, door unlock/lock, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electrically adjustable ORVMs, Apple Car Features like Play and Android Auto support, LED DRL are available. The starting ex-showroom price of this car is Rs 9.99 lakh.
Force Gurkha competes
The car competes with the Force Gurkha, which comes with a 2.0 L diesel engine. This SUV is also an off roader.
