Mahindra has officially introduced the XUV.e9 with BE.05 for the first time in India. The BE range of SUVs is based on the INGLO platform developed by Mahindra in collaboration with Volkswagen.
Mahindra XUV.e9 and ‘Bourne Electric’ platform The XUV.e9 is based on the ‘Bourne Electric’ platform. At the London launch event, Mahindra showcased the SUV alongside the XUV .e8. Which will be officially launched by the end of 2024.
The Inglo platform is similar to Volkswagen’s MEB platform. It has the lightest skateboard with high density battery. Apart from this, the company also revealed that this new EV platform is ready to support all future technologies, including head-up display, 5G connectivity and over-the-air (OTA) updates and edge-to-edge connectivity. .
The new model SUVs like the Scorpio-N, updated Thar, XUV700 and updated Bolero in both Mahindra XUV.e9 and Mahindra BE.05 are being well received. But in time to come to India, the focus will be more on electric and the two flagship products, the XUV.e9 and BE.05, are expected to sell well.
The Mahindra XUV.e9 concept is expected to go into production from April of 2025 and is an entirely new product. It measures 4,790 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width and 1,690 mm in height. It also has a 2,775 mm wheelbase. The XUV BE.05 is comparatively smaller at 4,370 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height. It will be positioned as a premium mid-size SUV.
Specifications of both the models are yet to be revealed and neither have the cabin features of the XUV.e9 been revealed. But the cabin of the XUV BE.05 concept SUV has been showcased and features a large connected display screen unit for both infotainment and drive statistics, digital speed display on the steering wheel, a plush fabric-clad dashboard and a curved center console.
