When Nvidia introduced the GeForce RTX 4050, RTX 4060, and RTX 4070 Laptop mobile accelerators, the company indicated that laptops with these 3D accelerators would start at $1,000. However, as reported, gaming models with GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop can be noticeably more expensive.
The WCCF resource refers to a report by a Chinese observer who managed to get acquainted with the prices for pre-ordering the mobile GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop – for such devices in China they will ask for 1200-1300 dollars. Moreover, we are talking about basic versions, with simple screens and “reasonably sufficient” amounts of memory. Top versions will be even more expensive – $ 1,500 and maybe even higher. If so, models with the GeForce RTX 4070 could cost as little as $2,000.
New accelerators, of course, are more powerful than the previous ones – the Ampere line, but the high price can play a cruel joke, because with the release of new laptops with new dGPUs, the prices for models with Ampere 3D accelerators will go down, and they have already fallen in price lately. For example, in Europe, Lenovo Legion 5 17ACH6H with Ryzen 7 5800H, 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB SSD and GeForce RTX 3070 is now sold for 1300 euros. And for 1600 euros you can buy Lenovo Legion 5 15ARH7H with Ryzen 7 6800H, 16 GB of RAM 512 GB SSD and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. It is clear that GeForce RTX 40 Laptops will have fresh processors and a number of other improvements, but if prices are high, then users may prefer more affordable models with GPUs and processors of the previous generation. Actually, this is what happens with desktop CPUs now: in Europe Ryzen 5000 is an absolute hitunlike Ryzen 7000 and Intel Core 13 generation.
