Kumbh Mela: Why politics over thousands of years old tradition?

Kumbh Mela is a symbol of India’s ancient culture, whose history is thousands of years old. It is mentioned in the Maurya and Gupta periods. Greek traveler Megasthenes and Chinese traveler Wen Song also described it. Today some people are looking at it through the lens of politics and religion. Some are calling it wastage of money and superstition. The issue of ban on entry of Muslim traders has also been raised.
