Korean and Japanese brands are still ahead of the “Chinese” in the Russian car market in 2022

From January to August 2022, 104,268 new passenger cars of domestic brands were sold in Russia, which is 59% less than in the same period a year earlier. The share of Russian cars for the first eight months of the year amounted to 24.7%.

The second in terms of market share were “Koreans”, which accounted for 23.56% of sales with 99,393 cars sold. Next come Japanese (61,602 units, 14.6% share), Chinese (54,689 units, 13%), German (39,709 units, 9.4%) and French stamps (36,008 units, 8, 53%).

In just eight months of this year, Russians bought 421,958 new cars, which is 59% less than in the same eight months of 2021, when 1,029,291 cars were bought.

The entire Russian car market shrank by 62.4% in August, and Haval, the only Chinese brand that localized car production in Russia, entered the top three for the first time.
