Electric two-wheeler maker Kinetic Green has launched the new Zulu electric scooter in India. Its price including subsidy is around Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). Nearly three decades ago, Kinetic used to sell Honda scooters in the country in partnership with Japan’s Honda.
According to a media report, Kinetic Green K Zulu will be manufactured in India. It has a 2.27 kWh lithium-ion battery and a maximum power hub electric motor of 2.8 bhp. Its range in a single charge is about 104 kilometers. This electric scooter has an apron mounted LED headlamp. Its length is 1,830 mm and width is 715 mm. It can carry a weight of up to 150 kg. The battery of Zulu electric scooter can be charged up to 80 percent in half an hour using a standard charger. Its top speed is 60 kmph.
Sales of electric scooters have increased rapidly in the last few years. in this market Ola Electric It ranks first with about 35 percent share. Zulu has telescopic forks at the front and dual shocks at the rear. It has disc brake. Kinetic Green plans to provide the option of oil cooled battery for it. Apart from getting more range, its battery can also be charged quickly. However, with this option the price of Zulu electric scooter may increase by about 15 percent. It will be sold at approximately 300 dealerships of the company.
The prices of electric scooters had increased a few months before the central government reduced the subsidy. This also had an impact on sales in this market. However, sales of electric scooters are recovering rapidly. Salujja Firodia Motwani, founder of Kinetic Green, said that the company also plans to launch e-Luna and another electric scooter with better performance. It aims to sell around 40,000 Zulu electric scooters in the next 12 months. The company has also partnered with supercar maker Lamborghini of Italy to make electric golf carts. These golf carts will be exported abroad.
