Kia’s electric car will come this year to compete with Tata, MG, Hyundai!

Kia is planning to introduce its first electric car in India this year. Earlier, parent company Hyundai has also confirmed that the company will introduce its new electric car in India in 2022. It is worth noting that the company is going to launch an updated version of its existing Hyundai Kona Electric this year. Kia has already launched the EV6 electric crossover in the global market and there is a good chance that the company will introduce this car in India this year.

Hardeep Singh Brar, Vice President and Head (Sales and Marketing), Kia India told news agency PTI .via Mint It was said in a statement to ) that keeping in mind many factors like pricing, range, charging infrastructure, the company is currently studying this side. On the synergy with parent Hyundai for the EV’s launch in India, Brar said both the companies play their “own game”. Notably, Hyundai is also planning to invest Rs 4,000 crore in India, as the Korean auto giant aims to launch six electric vehicles in the country by 2028.

Brar also said that Kia is targeting a 30% year-on-year growth target this year, i.e. 2022, as the company plans to ramp up production to over 75,000 units.

As we mentioned, Kia has introduced the EV6 in the global market. The two wheel drive option of its standard trim uses a 125kW power motor, which can accelerate the car from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.2 seconds. At the same time, 173kW electric motor has been given in its four wheel drive option. The two wheel drive option of the GT Line trim uses an electric motor of 168kW capacity, which generates 229PS of power. The company claims that it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.2 seconds. Even more powerful is its four wheel drive trim, which has a motor of 239kW capacity, which will generate 325PS of power.

The most powerful is the GT Line trim, which uses a 430kW dual motor. It generates torque of 740Nm. The company claims that this trim can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds. The top speed of this trim is 260 kmph.

The electric sedan comes in two capacity battery pack options. In this, the first option is a 58kwh battery pack and the second is a 77.4kwh battery pack. Thanks to these, the car can achieve a range of 370 km and 475 km respectively. Kia claims that the battery included in the EV6 electric car can charge up to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.
