Most prominent among them is the introduction of the iMT gearbox option with the diesel engine. The diesel iMT combination of Seltos has come to the fore in the past few months. This will be the third gearbox for the diesel engine as it is currently being sold with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes.
Apart from this, information is now coming out that the company is going to provide side airbags as standard to its most popular SUV Kia Seltos and compact SUV Kia Sonet. After this update, dual front airbags as well as side airbags will be provided in all variants of these two SUVs.
Let us tell you that recently the Transport Minister in the Government of India, Nitin Gadkari has ordered to improve the safety standards for all cars and has ordered to make 6 airbags mandatory in all cars. According to the orders, car makers will have to provide 6 airbags in all their small or big cars.
Keeping these orders in mind, Kia India plans to offer 4 airbags as standard to its most popular SUV Kia Seltos and compact SUV Kia Sonet. It is also worth noting that the Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet are going to be the first cars in their segment to get 4 airbags as standard.
The Korean carmaker is also going to introduce some new feature updates in the Seltos lineup. These include features like Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Rear Disc Brake, Side Airbags, ESC, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill Assist Control (HAC) and Brake Assist.
Other features like curtain airbags will be made available from the HTX+ variant while the HTX trims will also get features like traction/drive mode and paddle shifters. No changes are expected in the rest of the features list. These will also include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Apart from this, talking about the diesel iMT engine of Seltos, a new 6-speed iMT clutchless manual gearbox will be used with the 1.5-litre diesel engine. Its engine provides maximum power of 115 bhp. This engine is available in the other two gearboxes, 6-speed manual and torque converter.
