According to the latest information, the Korean carmaker is now going to give minor updates to the Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet present in its SUV lineup. Both the compact and subcompact SUVs are going to undergo minute updates next month. If reports are to be believed, then these updates will be regarding its features and color options.
To begin with, both the Kia Seltos and the Sonet will get safety features such as six airbags as standard fitment in the lineup. This additional technology is expected to be available with the price hike on both the models. Apart from this, some updates will be given on these SUVs.
These cars are also going to get a new blue paint scheme as an option, which was seen in the recently launched new Kia Carens. Let us inform that recently the Government of India has announced its vision of six airbags as standard fitment in all cars up to 8 seats.
Kia India is set to become the first carmaker in the country to offer all its cars with 6 airbags as standard in the market. The Kia Seltos will be offered in a diesel iMT variant, which is going to be based on the mid-spec HTK Plus trim.
The clutchless iMT automated manual gearbox is currently available on both the SUV models with turbo petrol engine options. This is the first time that this gearbox will be paired with diesel engine options. The diesel engine of the Kia Seltos produces 114 Bhp of power and 250 Nm of maximum torque.
On the other hand, the diesel engine in Kia Sonet is made available in two tuned states. Where in the first tuned state, the engine produces 99 Bhp of power and 240 Nm of peak torque, which is offered with a manual gearbox.
On the other hand, this engine has also been tuned to deliver 114 Bhp of power and 250 Nm of maximum torque, which is mated to an automatic gearbox. These updates are not a part of the facelift and are just regular modifications to the lineup.
Kia will be providing a comprehensive mid-cycle update to its Seltos SUV, which is expected to be launched in the Indian market later this year, possibly around June. The facelifted iteration will receive significant updates especially in its styling.
The new Kia Seltos Facelift will feature a heavily updated exterior design, which will be in line with the Korean carmaker’s existing design philosophy “Opposites United”. This design template has already been seen in the recently launched Kia models- Carens and the new-gen Kia Sportage.
The updated design will mainly include a heavily reworked front face with a new grille and split headlamp setup. The interiors of the cabin are expected to change with new features, fabric, colours, etc.
