Kia India sales up 18.44%, 22,622 vehicles sold in March 2022

Kia Sonnet and Carnival also registered good sales, contributing 6,871 and 328 units to the total March 2022 sales. Kia India featured in the list of five best-selling car brands in the country with a market share of 7% in the domestic personal vehicle (PV) market in March 2022. Kia India recorded its highest ever quarterly sales, with domestic dispatches of 60,062 units in the last quarter (January-March 2022), a 9.5% year-on-year growth.

Kia India ended the financial year 2021-22 with sales of 1,86,787 units despite semiconductor shortages and global supply chain disruption. The brand posted 20% year-on-year growth, which is well above the industry average. Seltos and Sonnet contributed 51% and 40% respectively to Kia India’s total domestic sales for FY 2021-22.

Kia’s fourth product in India, the Kia Carence recently crossed the 50,000 unit booking mark. At the same time, in just one and a half months of launch, the vehicle has registered sales of 12,117 units.

In April 2017, Kia India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to build a new plant in Anantapur district. Kia started mass production in August 2019. At present, the carmaker has an annual production capacity of around 3,00,000 units.

In April 2021, Kia India revealed its new brand identity, “Movement That Inspire”, which aims to provide customers with meaningful experiences backed by new products and services. So far, Kia India has launched four vehicles in the Indian market – Seltos, Carnival, Sonet and Carrence.
