Do not share UPI PIN / Net Banking password with anyone
If you want to avoid cyber fraud, then do not share your four or six digit UPI PIN or your net banking password with anyone. Otherwise, anyone can withdraw money from your account if the password is leaked. Also, keep in mind that if someone calls you posing as an employee of the bank and asks you for your bank account details including ATM PIN, OTP and password etc., then never share any information. Actually, these calls are not made by bank employees but by cyber thugs. In such a situation, you can become a victim of cyber fraud as soon as you share the information.
Do not click any kind of link
Every day people get attractive offers on mail and WhatsApp, especially during the festive season. Such links ask you to share your UPI PIN and other banking details to receive ‘rewards’ or ‘cashback’. Therefore, one should be careful with such links and should not open them. By clicking on such links, fraud can happen to you.
keep your mobile safe
Nowadays people do most of the digital banking work from mobile only. In such a situation, always keep your mobile locked. Especially if you are in a new place where you don’t know many people. Because apart from banking and payment apps in mobile, there are many such apps through which cyber scammers can steal your essential data. Let us tell you that email or Digilocker are such apps which contain all your important information. If you do not want your personal information to be leaked, therefore, keep your phone locked at all times.
Keep in mind website security too
Sometimes buying from a new or unknown website can also lead to fraud. Like sometimes you go to a new website to buy a valuable item, which you have never even heard of. In such a situation, you can also be cheated here. Because there are many such new websites in the market, where users are being cheated. In such a situation, as soon as you enter the password and banking ID to make payment on such an unknown website, all your banking information will be leaked and you will become a victim of fraud.
Verify UPI ID before sending money
Verify UPI ID before sending or receiving money. Also, while sending money, double-check the receiver’s UPI ID and phone number, otherwise money may be transferred to another person’s account by mistake. Please note that when you send money through UPI, there is no way to get it back, unless the receiver agrees to give it back. In such a situation, while taking money, make sure that you have shared the correct UPI ID.
