Auto Sales Data: In June 2022, wholesale sales of passenger vehicles grew 19 per cent year-on-year last month, driven by better chip supplies globally. According to the latest data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), an organization of vehicle manufacturers, 2,75,788 vehicles were sent to car dealers last month as compared to 2,31,633 cars in June 2021 last year.
Increase in wholesale sales of two wheelers and three wheelers
According to the data released by SIAM, the wholesale sales of two-wheelers also increased from 10,60,565 on a year-on-year basis to 13,08,764 units last month. Talking about three wheelers, 26,701 units were supplied to the dealers last month as compared to 9,404 units last year. Talking about passenger vehicles of each category, last month’s wholesale sales on year-on-year basis for passenger vehicle category increased from 13,01,602 in June 2022 to 16,11,300 units on a year-on-year basis.
40% increase in retail sales
Last week, auto dealer body FADA presented the retail sales figures of passenger vehicles. According to Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), an organization of auto dealers, 2,60,683 passenger vehicles were sold in June 2022 as compared to 1,85,998 passenger vehicles in the same period last year. That is, in June 2022, there was an increase of 40 percent in the sales of passenger vehicles on an annual basis. (Input: PTI)
