Japanese resource BestCarWeb reported that Toyota is working on a radically new Century SUV – it will be the largest and most powerful in the manufacturer’s range. In these parameters, it will surpass the Land Cruiser 300, but it will also be better equipped.
The publication calls the Century the Japanese Rolls-Royce Cullinan – the company is aiming with it at the luxury SUV segment. Three reasons are given that prompted Toyota to start work on the Century. The first is that such cars are in demand in government circles (here we can draw an analogy with the domestic Aurus). The second is that the solvent audience is tired of the classic Toyota design and therefore changes to cars of other brands. Century would have turned out to be a kind of fresh stream. Finally, a large crossover is easier to equip with a large battery when it comes to the electric version. And Toyota is gradually switching to hybrids and electric vehicles.

A full-fledged premiere of the Century SUV should take place this year. It is expected to be built on the platform of the big new Lexus TX, but unlike it, it will be designed for five, not seven.
With dimensions of 5200 x 1950 x 1750 mm, the Century will be 25 cm longer than the Land Cruiser 300. The wheelbase of the car will be 3000 mm, the weight of the hybrid version with a 3.5-liter V6 turbocharged gasoline engine will be approximately 2200 kg. The expected cost is from 75 to 115 thousand dollars. An all-electric variant is expected a few years after the hybrid.
