“IT specialist” reluctantly. The Federal Penitentiary Service plans to attract IT specialists serving their sentences to work remotely for commercial companies

The head of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Alexander Khabarov, said that the department is considering involving IT specialists serving sentences in correctional centers to work remotely for commercial companies. Such proposals were addressed to the Federal Penitentiary Service in a number of regions of Russia.

“There are not many such specialists. Entrepreneurs who work in this area come to us with this initiative in a number of territories, in a number of subjects. We are only at the initial stage. If this is in demand, and this is most likely in demand, we think that we will not force specialists in this field to work in any other industries.– said Alexander Khabarov.

He explained that we are talking about those who are serving sentences in correctional centers. “Correction centers imply that this is a form of punishment through correctional labor. The duty to work is number one. In every area they [центры] can be applied, including in IT-technologies”– said the deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service.

Alexander Khabarov, that, according to the law, a convict in correctional centers can work within one region, but the remote work format will allow them to work for a company in another subject.
