Almost every person now has a page on social networks. The same applies to various organizations: many of them have accounts on Instagram, Facebook, Vkontakte, etc. Many new social media jobs have emerged as well. All this speaks about the important role of this phenomenon for the modern world.
At the moment, the author of the article notes, in the Russian Federation, as in most other states, the inheritance of digital property (that is, accounts in social networks) is poorly regulated. Digital rights, for example, are governed by article 141.1 of the Civil Code. Moreover, the account itself, according to the text of this document, is not an object of civil law.
Accounts are bought and sold most often not as intellectual property, but as a means of communication. On the other hand, subject to a number of conditions through the court, the page can be recognized as intellectual property, which will allow the heirs of a person to continue to use it.
