IRCTC Aadhaar Link: What is the new rule?

According to IRCTC, from July 1, 2025, Tatkal tickets will be available only to those users who have verified their identity using their Aadhaar card. In addition, Aadhaar-based OTP verification will be mandatory for Tatkal ticket booking from July 15, 2025.

Announcing this reform on June 17, Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw said that now only KYC-verified users will be able to book tickets during the first 30 minutes of the booking window, which will help prevent fraudulent bookings by bots and agents.

How to verify Aadhaar in the IRCTC account?

  • Log in to the IRCTC website/app

  • Go to the “My Account” section and select “Authenticate User”

  • Enter your Aadhaar number or Virtual ID

  • Click on “Verify Details” and enter the OTP received on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar
