Iranian Saipa cars can be assembled in Russia at a plant that previously produced MAN trucks

Even during the official announcement of the Iranian Saipa cars for Russia, it was said that if there was a demand, they could start their production in Russia at one of their St. Petersburg auto enterprises. It was logical to think that we are talking about the former Nissan plant. But, as it turned out, the distributor of Saipa in Russia – the company “Best Motors” – liked another site.

“On the territory of the industrial zone “Shushary”. MAN trucks used to be assembled there“, – said Evgeny Chizhov, strategic development director of Best Motors, answering the question about where the company is going to localize the production of Saipa cars.

It is not clear how the distributor sees high demand, but this year it is planned to sell 10 thousand Saipa cars in Russia, and next year – already 45 thousand. In addition to conventional sedans and hatchbacks, pickups and even brutal “Iranian Hummer”. Recall that sales of passenger cars Saipa in Russia will start on June 1.
