iPhone 17 to Feature Larger Display and 120Hz Refresh Rate—But One Key Feature Will Be Missing

iPhone 17 to Also Get a Bigger Display and 120Hz Refresh Rate, But This Feature Will Be Missing

Recently, in an Amazon India listing, Spigen’s screen protector was mistakenly described as compatible with the “iPhone 17” and “iPhone 17 Pro.”

Apple’s next iPhone is slowly making its way into the spotlight through various leaks. The latest update suggests that the base variant of the iPhone 17 may feature a larger display and a high refresh rate. A tipster on Weibo claimed that the next base iPhone will come with a 6.3-inch screen—matching the size of last year’s iPhone 16 Pro.

According to Digital Chat Station (username translated from Chinese), the iPhone 17 will have a larger display and a higher refresh rate. Previously, models like the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus featured only 60Hz screens. However, in 2025, Apple is expected to equip its non-Pro models with 120Hz LTPO OLED displays for the first time. This means users may enjoy smoother scrolling and an enhanced experience for gaming and video playback—without having to purchase the Pro variant.

The iPhone 17 series has already surfaced in multiple leaks. Recently, an Amazon India listing mistakenly indicated compatibility of Spigen’s screen protector with the “iPhone 17” and “iPhone 17 Pro.” Though the listing was later removed, it confirmed that all iPhone 17 models could feature a 6.3-inch display.

However, premium screen features like the Always-On Display may still be limited to the Pro models. This is due to Apple’s adaptive refresh rate technology, which ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz and is currently exclusive to the Pro lineup.

According to earlier reports, Apple plans to use Samsung’s M14 OLED panels across all iPhone 17 models. This is the same technology used in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max last year.
