Apple has made preparations to increase its manufacturing in India. The company aims to conduct 25 percent of the total iPhone manufacturing in the country over the next three to four years.
American device maker Apple may launch the iPhone 16 series this year. The iPhone 16 Pro Max in this series may feature a larger display and a separate capture button. The display of the iPhone 16 Pro Max may be larger than that of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Tipster Majin Bu has shared images of dummy units of the iPhone 16 Pro Max on the social media platform X. These images showcase a 6.9-inch display on the smartphone. However, details regarding the display resolution or bezels are not available from the dummy unit. Additionally, the rear camera module of the iPhone 16 Pro Max appears slightly larger than that of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Earlier reports suggested that the iPhone 16 series may feature a new capture button. Moreover, the action button present on iPhone 15 Pro models may also be included in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The iPhone 15 Pro Max was the best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of this year.
India is an important market for Apple. By the end of last year, 14 percent of Apple’s total iPhone manufacturing was based in India. Alongside selling these iPhones domestically, they are also exported. Apple aims to increase manufacturing to 25 percent by 2027 or 2028. Most iPhones manufactured in the country are produced by Taiwan’s Foxconn. By the end of the last financial year, iPhones worth approximately $14 billion were manufactured in India. In October last year, Tata Electronics acquired the manufacturing plant of another Taiwanese contract manufacturer, Wistron.
