Apple will continue to use Qualcomm’s 5G modems in its smartphones for now. At a minimum, we are talking about the iPhone 15 line, since our own developments in this direction are stalling. It is assumed that Snapdragon X70 modems will be installed in the future line.
This is indicated by data from specialized media, which report that TSMC is currently mass-producing 4 nm chips. And the Snapdragon X70 is equipped with chips with just such a process technology. The current flagship iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max used the X65.
The new modems are said to be able to provide up to 60% improvement in power consumption, as well as increase throughput, lower latency, better performance and so on.
As for Apple’s own 5G modems, it is expected that the company will introduce them no earlier than 2025. Thus, only Qualcomm modems should be expected in the coming years.
