On Tuesday Volkswagen updated the Golf, giving the iconic hatchback a refreshed exterior and a refreshed salon. The GTI variant also underwent design changes and received increased power.
The updated 2,0-litre four-cylinder engine EA888 with turbocharged GTI will now develop in Europe the power of 261 hp. (195 kW), which is 20 hp. (15 kW) more than before. The engine still drives the front wheels, but since the manual transmission option is no longer used, the only available transmission is the seven-stage automatic transmission DSG from Volkswagen.
The new Volkswagen GTI 2024 differs with a wider lower grille with sloping upward accents and a new shape. The only difference in the design of the rear is the lantern with new internal graphics. Each block has a thinner taillight, a C-shaped bracket and six points.
The GTI uses the Golf’s updated cabin, which features a new improved touch screen infotainment system. The usual physical buttons are installed on the steering wheel. Volkswagen also developed sensor sliders with illumination to adjust the volume and the air conditioning system, while also simplifying the structure of the menu of the infotainment system on a separate stand-alone display.
For the first time the automaker will offer the GTI with real carbon interior trim. The hatchback will also have a contrasting black roof and 15 body colors – four more than before.
