The updated wagon Nissan Interstar received a fresh appearance thanks to the wide grille of the radiator, surrounded by C-shaped lighting devices. Plastic elements appeared on the body and vertical rear lamps.
Nissan stated that the model has best-in-class aerodynamics and frontal resistance, reduced by 20% compared to the previous model. This helps to increase the fuel economy of variants with internal combustion engines, as well as the economy of the new electric mobile.
Nissan did not go into details, but noted that the side door became 40 mm wider, and the cargo space — 100 mm longer. Buyers will be available «a wide spectrum of factory-made modifications, including variants Tipper, Dropside and Box Van». Nissan also said that the van will be able to transport up to 2000 kg in body weight and tow up to 2500 kg of trailer mass for variants with DVC.
The big novelty was the appearance of the all-new Interstar-e, which is fully electric and equipped with a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 87 kWh, providing a range of more than 460 km. When the battery is discharged, the van can be charged for 252 km in 30 minutes.
Since the Interstar-e is «designed primarily for city driving», the company also offers a smaller battery capacity of 40 kWh. It is expected to make the model more affordable, although the range will reduce to about 200 km.
Nissan will also offer a 2.0-litre turbodiesel, which will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and will provide best-in-class fuel economy.
The wagon «significantly improved» maneuverability, since the turning diameter was reduced by 1,5 m. The company also noted that the model will be equipped with multiple driver assistance systems, including emergency braking, drowsiness warning, tow assist and tire pressure control system.
